THERE WAS a time when everybody went to Gino's, a time when a giant burger slathered in secret sauce left char-grilled imprints on the brains of a generation.

Gino's burgers were there by the bagful after Little League games, before David Bowie concerts, despite warnings from doctors to "cut back on the burgers." Then Gino's went away, slowly, like an aging hairline, and eventually, you could go there only in your mind.

While many Goliath-sized food and restaurant brands have filed for bankruptcy or closed locations en masse in the last quarter, the once popular Mid-Atlantic corridor Regional icon Gino’s… is back.

The apparent success and reception of the first three restaurants from King of Prussia PA to Towson MD to Bensalem PA has enabled Gino’s to award twenty-four franchises in its inaugural year, twelve of which will open in 2012. Among them is at Orioles Park in Camden Yards with international concessionaire Delaware North.

Tom Romano, President & CEO of the recreated brand was the Chief Operating Officer of the original Gino’s, a NYSE company before its sale to the Marriott Corporation in 1982. Romano says the residual brand equity is beyond his wildest expectations. The reintroduction of the iconic brand aside from its apparent success is his most prized accomplishment.

In contrast to the food industry’s bankruptcies and closings, high employment and tight credit, Gino’s has generated jobs for its approved vendors and will have created nearly 500 new jobs by the end of 2012.

Tom Clatterbuck has joined Gino’s Burgers & Chicken as Vice President of Operations.

Tom has a 42 year track record in the Restaurant Industry as an Operator, Multi Unit Director, Vice President of Operations, Franchisee and Franchisor.

Tom started his career in 1968 with Gino’s Inc, in the Rustler Steak House Division. His career began as a dishwasher and culminated as the Operations Project Manager for the Rustler Division in 1977. From there, Tom owned and operated the Chick Fil A restaurant in the Gallery Mall in Philadelphia.

His career has taken him to several of the heavyweights in the Restaurant Industry. Tom was a Multi Unit Director for Wendy’s, Applebee’s and Vice President of Operations for First Hospitality Corporation, a TGI Friday’s Franchisee.

Most recently Tom helped start a Franchise company in TN and TX, before joining his long time friend and mentor, Tom Romano, to help bring the Gino’s brand back to the masses.

The First Store Location

The most common question we're asked is: 'Where will the first new Gino's store be opened?' Well, we can now tell you!

After a full year of planning and hard work, we are pleased to announce the lease signing for the first "Gino's Burgers & Chicken" location at 611 West DeKalb Pike (Route 202) in King of Prussia PA.

Most recently the location was the home of the King of Prussia Diner, and before that a McDonald's for about 35 years. Demolition starts this Monday and we intend to open ahead of Black Friday as we are will be directly across from the King of Prussia Mall.

Plans are in place for more stores in the future.

We wish to thank everyone involved for their encouragement and support.

When Tom called me and asked me to help bring Gino’s back, I thought WOW, how cool is that?

I thought of all the happy faces that Gino’s created from employees to vendors and most importantly for the millions of customers we served over the years.

Since July, we have been busy at work doing what I like to do best which is to develop the menu and recipes. With the help of our suppliers and a full understanding of what Gino's Burgers & Chicken customers want today we have developed what I believe is a sure formula for success.

I’m excited about resurrecting the management style of what made Gino’s what it was, and what it is still remembered for today. I am happy to be a part of the team and to provide support to build the Gino’s brand.

It’s my intention to attend as many openings as I can. Hopefully, I’ll get to meet you soon.
